Teacher Technology Forum

For The Future of Education

This site has been developed to provide teachers at the primary and secondary levels with the information and resources they need to make educational technology a basic element in the design and delivery of curriculum, and to enhance communication with students, parents, and every other stakeholder in the educational process. Educational technology can no longer be treated as an adjunct or as some easily-jettisoned luxury. Technology is part of everything our students do and is here to stay - we must communicate with students in the language of the 21st Century.

Contrary to what many people believe, technology is not an end unto itself. Technology cannot replace you or the knowledge you stand to impart. Technology is just another tool, one of many you can use to make the educational process more effective. But oh, what a tool it is!  According to EDvancenet, a partnership of the Consorium for School Networking and the National School Boards Association, the proper use of technology has proven to engage and involve students more readily in learning activities, empowers students to compete ever more complex and detailed tasks, fosters the development of higher-order thinking skills, and better assures student mastery of lessons.

There are certainly scores, if not hundreds, of sites devoted to educational technology. My intention is for the Teacher Technology Forum to make information and resources relating to educational technology as understandable and accessible as possible. The information contained here is short on technical jargon and long on theory and practice. Bear with me as I develop this site into the best possible resource for the integration of technology into the classroom and throughout the educational process. The changes will be constant.
